Pistachio delivery.  First trip out.

Pistachio delivery.  First trip out.

Departure:  Emeryville Marina
Arrival:  Clipper Yacht Harbor
Distance (nm):  16.8
Engine Hours:  1.5
Crew & Guests:  Julian, Colin, Debby & John Bullock
Weather:  Rain to start, and then threatening rain, but we basically escaped.  some nice 10 – 15 knots of wid under decidedly grey sky.

Log:

Arrived at the marina with a car full of stuff, located Mark the broker and just made it to the boat with the dock cart and installed the dodger-bimini cockpit cover as the rain poured down. A bit of organizing things below, some handshaking with Wayne, the other broker, and we said goodbye to John (who gladly volunteered drive the car over to Sausalito), and cast off, without even really checking how to get out of the marina.

The rain stopped, the wind picked up and we put up the sails and switched off the engine, and suddenly, a month or so of boat buying anticipation was finally worth it.  We were really getting a sense of Pistachio on the water, Debby loving it as much as us, when we thought to head in and pick up John from Clipper, as arranged.  Pulled into the slip, and headed out again down the channel and out into the Bay.  All good!

A pop of champagne on the way back in, and the first trip on Pistachio is certainly a success, and great to share this with Debby and John.  (Debby has a bit of a history with us and our boats – we spent a great day with her on the 28.5, and she was with us when we first saw Machopekin)
