Dodging the Victory Ship

Dodging the Victory Ship

Departure:  Clipper
Arrival:  Clipper
Distance (nm):  16.8 nm
Engine Hours: 1 hour
Crew & Guests:  Julian, Colin,
Weather: Really flat water (strange) wind lighter than usual.

Log:

We had big plans for going out the Gate, but when we got up things were well socked in, so leaving a little later than we expected we run out of ebbing current, and were faced with wind and current coming through the gate as the sky cleared.  The result was beating back and forth across the slot, mostly going about to avoid one ship or other (including a smoking Victory Ship full of people out for a cruise).

Then back to the dock and sending Colin up the mast to rig a topping lift for the spinnaker boom (which now has a new end on it).  Ever hopeful we’ll soon get to launch the spinnaker!

Note in the video that, other than the Victory Ship, we have the largest American flag on the Bay today.  Not bad for a couple of non-Americans.
