After a Saturday touring the boat show in the East Bay, we were ready on Sunday to head out with Ma/Joan for a sail on Pistachio. A lovely sunny morning with a slight breeze, and we set off towards the City, around Alcatraz back behind Angel Island, and realizing the tide was now ebbing nicely, we took the opportunity to complete the circumnavigation of Angel Island, getting through Racoon Straights with only two tacks. An almost perfect weather weekend, and always special to have Mum out for a sail.
And … when putting the boat away, the head intake thru-hull handle came offrom in colin’s hand, and proceeded to leak profusely. A bit of messing around, some sponge and duct tape, and we managed to stem the tide, but the boat needed repair. A hall out on Monday, and we also took the opportunity for a new bottom paint:
