Upholstery Makeover

Upholstery Makeover

The previous owner had put a lot of effort into improving the soft furnishings inside Boundless.  The mattresses on the bunks are new, there are very nice curtains at all the portlights, and they also redid the cushion covers in a cream ‘pleather’, which looked kind of clean, but a) not really our style, b) were cold in the winter, and hot in the summer, c) super slippy so all cushions just slide off, and d) were not very cozy to relax on…. O.K.  have I made my case?

So, we ordered some lovely upholstery fabric from West Elm that seems hard wearing, and after months of waiting, then a month or so of procrastination, completed the whole project in a week … That’s 16 cushions (17 including the one that had to be redone because I made it completely the wrong size)!

The Sailrite machine was brilliant.  As were all the supplies, continuous zipper, (amazing) seam tape, etc.

So, here you have it, some ‘before and after’ pics.  We’re happy with the results, and frankly quite impressed.  Thanks to my Nana who taught me how to do this, making curtains many years ago.
