A couple of jobs completed this week: Boat Name: Installed the new boat name graphic: VHF & Nav Station rework: Tidied up the nav station, which required the purchase of a new B&G VHF Radio. If we are being totally honest, the previous ICOM radio was fine. It connected to the Vesper 8000 via NMEA … Continue reading Naming, Nav Station tidy, VHF, fender covers, and finishing the scupper through-hull (busy week!)

Bottom Paint, Through-hulls, Transducers and Topside Paint Job
We went in for a bottom job, and to complete the electronics install with a new speed/depth/temp transducer and the forward-looking sonar transducer, but 'scope-creep' is inevitable. Here is a summary of what the almost three weeks out of the water entailed: 1. Old Transducer Removal: Extracted the old Raymarine depth transducer from the bow … Continue reading Bottom Paint, Through-hulls, Transducers and Topside Paint Job

Up the mast again (anemometer part two) and on with the Electronics install.
Success! We have wind speed and direction. The anemometer is firmly fixed to the top of the mast and the cable is run. Apart from a broken tap, the tapping was eventually scrapped in favor of screws, the procedure went fairly smoothly. Now, if we can only figure out why the wind speed only works … Continue reading Up the mast again (anemometer part two) and on with the Electronics install.
Up the mast for the anemometer (Pt. One)
This is actually the second attempt at getting the anemometer installed, and the cable to it run up the mast. The first attempt ended in a fail due to lack of chutzpah and a fear of heights by both Colin and I, but a renewed determination got me up there this time. However, getting up … Continue reading Up the mast for the anemometer (Pt. One)

Radar Install
Well we weren't planning to install the radar this week, but the mast mount was ready for pick up from West Marine on Friday, so that spurred us into an impromptu project (isn't that how it usually works). A valiant job with Colin up the mast for probably two or three hours install the mount, … Continue reading Radar Install
